Srinivasa Ramanujan: The Man Who Knew Infinity

The man who knew infinity
Srinivasa Ramanujan is one of the world’s greatest mathematicians, and he is known for his great work done in his field. He made many of his theories very popular in the world. This is why his principles are still used in many countries.

Early Life

He was born on December 22, 1887, in Erode, Tamil Nadu. Also, he is known for many contributions made in the theory of numbers. It is very startling for many people, but in the beginning, Ramanujan never studied mathematics. He studied mathematics and became its expert in the latter part of his education.

Srinivasa Ramanujan studied some books written by international mathematicians, and after a few years, he made many of his theories on mathematics.

Ramanujan was very poor, and he did various research only under bad circumstances, but later he was supported by Ram Chandra Rao and his clerical job, due to which he was able to learn more and invent many new studies on mathematics.

Adulthood

In 1914, he won a scholarship to England and studied hard under Godfrey. He worked hard and also invented various other theories. Ramanujan surprised every teacher with the knowledge of mathematics. Also, he never knew the modern techniques of mathematics. But, at that time he still performed better than many professors and researchers.

He invented many theories, and the most famous ones are followed: Ramanujan continuously, Mok Live work, Ramanujan estimation, Ramanujan Pradhan, Ramanujan Live ceremony, Ramanujan’s zodiac, Ramanujan’s set series, etc. He also won the companionship of the royal society.

He worked for a very short period because he was only 32 years old, but his teachings are still alive in many people’s minds and textbooks. So, this country was about Srinivasa Ramanujan, the country’s best mathematician.

Cultivating reading habits in kids has become really important these days. With the growing technology, parents are in a confusion of what to do.

Here are a few key points to help you with it.

Daily Reading Time

Allotting a specific time for reading can take the effort a long way.  This, in turn, develops a habit of reading in the children. After some time the kids will do it on their own. But, at the start, you have to sit with them. This will help a lot to get reading habits in kids.

Create a Reading Space

A proper place for reading is really worth it. This will help the child to concentrate on the book. Helping them to understand the subject in more depth. Although a quiet room with some books & a study table will help.

Reading to Children

At the start, children will not be attentive in reading. So, you have to read some books with them. Let them feel & enjoy the writer’s thoughts. This will help a lot in cultivating reading habits in kids.

Trips to Libraries

Sitting & reading at a library is a beautiful experience. Kids should get to feel that. So take them to libraries. Let them sit down and read something. With them, you can read something too.

Reading Freedom

The children should be able to read whatever they feel like. It’s a big no-no to tell them what to read. This in turn will discourage them from reading. So, it’s a must to develop good reading habits in children.

Make the kids relate

Now reading a lot & not relating to any of it won’t help. Make the children relate to the writer’s thoughts. Show them the thoughts in day to day life. This will make them interested in reading more & living it.

Importance of Education (How to Teach Children)

Teaching the importance of education to the children is really necessary. They should realize the importance of education. We can do that in many ways, the following being the important ones.

Practicals

Practicals are an important part of life. A practical session of any subject can make the importance of the subject clear. So, ask them to use their education in solving day to day problems. Like you can ask them to help you out in calculations, teaching them the importance of mathematics. Similarly, doing small experiments in houses can trigger their interest in science. Also, asking them quizzes on different topics can be of help.

Reading

Reading is a way to gain information from throughout the world. There are millions of books with billions of ideas in them. One can ask children to inculcate the habit of reading. This, in turn, will increase their concentration and understand of the knowledge given in the books. Only asking the child to read something won’t help. We have to first start reading for them then slowly transition them to reading themselves.

Writing

Writing is a way of expression. Children should be practicing it more often. Teach them calligraphy to generate their interest. Once they are interested in the topic ask them to write their thoughts, poems, essays, etc. This will help them process their thoughts better and express it in words.

Travel Better

We can be entertained in malls, theatres, cafes, etc. But, ideally, they are not the best places for the child to visit. Instead of that, you could plan to take the child out for trips to science parks, museums, planetarium, etc., that will generate their interest in their studies.

The Iron Man of India: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

Young Age

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was born on 31 October 1875 in a small village of Gujarat. As Patel’s father was a farmer by profession, Patel grew up in a simple environment devoid of luxuries. He helped his father in the fields and studied at the NK High School, Petlad. Throughout school, he was a very wise and intelligent student. In spite of poor financial conditions, his । father wanted to send him to college but Vallabhbhai refused. For about three years he stayed at home, worked hard, and prepared for the District Leader’s examination, hence passing with a very good percentage.

Adult Life

Patel hated to work for anyone, especially the Britishers. He was a person of independent nature. Soon he started his own practice of law in a place Called Godhara which flourished in no time. He saved money and made financial arrangement for the entire family, After gaining self-sufficiency and financial, Patel his Childhood pride with him to start his married life. In 1904, he got a baby daughter Manibel, and in 1905, his son Dahya was born.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel sent his elder brother to England for higher studies in law. In 1908. Vitthal Bhai (Patel’s elder brother’) returned as a barrister and started practicing in Bombay. In 1909, Patel’s wife become Seriously. ill and was taken to Bombay for treatment. Vallabh Bhai had to go for the hearing of an urgent case and his wife died. He was stunned. He admitted his children to St Mary’s School Bombay and left for England. He became a barrister and returned to India in 1913.

Freedom Fighter Life

Around 1915, he came across Mahatma Gandhi when the Swadeshi Movement was at its peak. Gandhiji gave a lecture at a place in Ahmedabad where Patel heard him and was very impressed and started actively participating in the freedom movement. The British government’s atrocities increased. The government declared to confiscate all the lands of farmers. It was Patel who forced the British Government to amend the rules. He brought together the farmers and encouraged them to fight the move of the British and hence acquired the title of ‘Sardar’.

The British Government considered him a threat and his lectures were considered anti-government and he was imprisoned several times. In 1942, he took part in the Quit India Movement under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi and was arrested along with other leaders.

At the time of Independence & After

At the time of independence, when India was to be divided into two nations, it was Sardar Patel who successfully obtained accession from the ‘Nawabs’ of Hyderabad and Junagadh respectively, who wanted to join Pakistan. Hence, Patel played an instrumental role in integrating present-day India using frank diplomacy and military action,

As the first Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of India, Patel organized relief for refugees in Punjab and Delhi, and led efforts to restore peace across the nation, Hailed as the Iron Man of  India, he is also remembered as the ‘Patron Saint’ of India’s civil servants for establishing modern all-India services. Patel was also one of the earliest proponents of property rights and free in India.

 Vallabhbhai Patel’s leadership enabled the accession of almost every princely state. Sardar Patel vehemently Opposed Nehru move Of taking Kashmir issue to the United Nations and advised him against it. patel’s health began declining rapidly in 1950’s when personalised medical staff was arranged to attend to him daily. His daughter, Maniben , in response to his worsening medical conditions, restricted his official meetings and engagements.

The Last Days

After suffering a massive heart attack, Sardar Patel left the world on 15 December 1950 at Birla House in Bombay. In an unprecedented and unrepeated gesture, on the day after his death, more than 1500 officers of India’s civil and police services congregated to mourn at Patel’s residence in Delhi and pledged complete loyalty and unremitting zeal in India’s service.

Empathetic Education: Integral Part of the Top School in Western Odisha

Empathy is a way of connecting with other people that shows you understand that they’re experiencing something meaningful. Even though you may not understand exactly how it feels for them. In other words, empathy is about finding a way to connect and to be able to say, “I want to understand how this feels to you and let you know that you’re not alone.” Being the top school in western Odisha, we suggest practicing this at your homes too.

Think about yourself at first

It is very difficult to connect with others if you are not very aware of your own behavior. While teacher training is extremely helpful, you may not be aware of some of your own approaches in how you manage your class once you settle in a routine. For example, it is worth noting what triggers certain emotions at work, such as frustration or even anger. Then, it is also useful to recognize feelings of self-doubt, your reactions to stress, and even whether you are going through burnout. Usually, when we do not address these problems, they end up piling up and they might affect our ability to interact with others. Asking for help from peers or a supervisor is a good strategy that will help teachers cope better in the long run.

Let them see you as you

Let yourself be seen. This is way easier said than done. However, in sharing our shortcomings as well as our successes, we are being more authentic. An educator that holds back cannot demand full openness from their students. You can admit when you are not having the best day, or when you got a fact wrong. You can be open about that one time you struggled with a concept in school, or got a bad grade. Students do not need to see perfection, they need someone they can relate to and someone that they can trust.

Show students how to be more empathetic

Many teachers choose their profession after being inspired by an educator themselves — someone that has had a great impact on their life. For example, I will never forget my Math teacher, who had a tough-love approach to teaching, but made time after her normal teaching schedule to tutor students who were struggling, because “everyone deserves a second, third, and fourth chance”. Students will tend to look up to teachers that show more empathy towards them and in turn, show more kindness towards one another and emulate positive behaviors.

Separate behavior from the student

This is nothing innovative, yet we tend to fall into the trap of identifying students according to some behaviors that they exhibit in class. There is a good student and a problem student. The problem with labels (aside from the fact that they belong on jars, not on students) is that students will internalize and identify with the said label. This can in turn become a self-fulfilling prophecy, not to mention that it will also alter your own perceptions and expectations of your students. Other negative aspects are lower confidence in themselves and lower confidence in their academic skills. Instead, one of the building blocks of a good relationship with students is separating what they do vs. who they are as a person.

APJ Abdul Kalam: The Missile Man

His exceptional contributions to the country’s nuclear and space programmes will forever be remembered. Being the best residential school in Odisha, we thought to shed some light on his life.

Early Life

He was born to Jainulabudeen, a boat owner, and Ashiamma, a housewife, at Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu. His had a poor family. In order to support his family, he used to distribute newspapers after his school hours. He had interest in his studies.

Education & Career

Dr Kalam graduated from MIT in 1985. Later, he had applied to become a fighter pilot for the Indian Air force. However, he ranked ninth when there were only 8 openings. He used to love the Veena and often played the instrument at his residence. Kalam also used to write poetry in Tamil. His books ‘Wings of Fire’ and ‘Ignited Minds’ are an inspiration to many.

Becoming the President of India

In 2002, Dr Kalam became the 11th President of India and famously became the ‘People’s President’ for his friendly nature to one and all. In 2010, the United Nations decided to recognise October 15 as World Student Day to honour Dr Kalam.

Honours

He received honorary doctorates from more than 40 national and international universities during his lifetime. Kalam was the recipient of Padma Bhushan (1981), Padma Vibhushan (1990) and Bharat Ratna (1997) for his contribution to the scientific research and modernisation of defence technology in India. Ramdhari Singh Dinkar

Ramdhari Singh Dinkar is an Indian Hindi Poet, Essayist & Patriot. He is also known as the poet of the rebellion. We at Aparnaa World School, the best CBSE school in Jharsuguda, thought to shed some light on the epic poet.

Childhood

The poet was born on 23 September 1908 in a small village named Simaria in Bihar, India. He was born to a very poor family & had to do petty works to survive his childhood. Also, he was a good student with interests in history, politics & philosophy. His interest in language grew when he joined college. He studied Hindi, Sanskrit, Maithili, Bengali, Urdu, etc.

His Life

Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, after his college days, joined the Indian Independence Movement. There he followed poets like Rabindranath Tagore & has many mentions in his writing. His poems & essays have inspired many Indians. Some of his creations are also mentioned in our CBSE books.

After Independence, the poet & politician served the country. He was elected 03 times as a member of the prestigious Rajya Sabha of the Indian Parliament. Also, he is awarded one of the prestigious awards i.e. Padma Bhushan in 1959.

Achievements

  1. Poet: A well known Hindi poet. Wrote many poems especially for the freedom movement of India.
  2. Multiliguistic: He had a knowledge of many languages like Hindi, Sanskrit, Maithili, Urdu, Bengali, etc.
  3. Freedom Fighter: He motivated many Indians with his creations & together made the country free.
  4. Politician: After India’s independence, he still served the country by being elected in the Rajya Sabha, 03 times.
  5. Essayist: Has many creations to his name. Some of them find mentions in the Indian CBSE Books.
  6. Padma Bhushan Awardee: He was awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan award for his services to the country.
